Migrant Children And Large Groups Continue To Cross The Texas Border

Unaccompanied migrant children, large groups of migrants, and migrants who may pose “national security risks” to the United States are still crossing the border from Mexico into South Texas. Maverick County / Eagle Pass, Texas, has become the epicenter for these concerning developments.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a recent report reveals that Texas State Troopers managed to apprehend a group of 204 illegal immigrants on October 16, 2024. This incident adds to the series of large groups illegally crossing the Rio Grande into the state, as reported by the U.S. Border Patrol and Texas DPS since late September. To learn more about this ongoing issue, you can read my article on it here.

A total of 57 children between the ages of 8 and 17, who were not accompanied by adults, were found among the group. These children were carrying slips of paper with addresses to different states. The issue of unaccompanied migrant minors crossing the border has been an ongoing concern, and I have written more about it, which you can read HERE.

In that group, the DPS states that there were also three individuals classified as “Special Interest Immigrants” from the Republic of Mali in West Africa. These individuals are considered to potentially pose a national security risk to the United States or its interests, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

This is not a new development; rather, it is a concerning trend that I first wrote about at the beginning of this month. You can read more about it HERE.

There have been other notable developments concerning illegal immigration along the Texas-Mexico border.

The El Paso Border Patrol Sector uncovered a stash house on October 10, 2024, where they found 37 migrants living in deplorable conditions. Stash houses serve as temporary stops for illegal migrants before they are transported further into the United States by human smugglers associated with cartels.

In Laredo, Border Patrol Agents made a startling discovery on October 15, 2024. They found 16 migrants trapped inside the locked trailer of a semi-truck that had been abandoned by the human smuggling ring they had paid to transport them illegally from Mexico into Texas. It was thanks to a vigilant citizen who noticed “suspicious activity” and alerted the authorities about the trailer parked on a Laredo street. As a result, all the migrants, who were Mexican nationals, were rescued.
