Verdell Monroe, 62, has been reported missing since she was last seen on October 4, 2024, near the intersection of Collingsworth and Hardy streets. She was last seen seeing a male acquaintance who lives in a white house at the northeast corner of the block.
Monroe’s daughter reported that her mother was spotted by a friend walking up the street, but without her usual belongings – her purse, backpack, and grocery basket. What made this sighting even more peculiar was the presence of a little white cat, as Monroe is typically seen with her small brown dog. The male friend recalled Monroe mentioning that she would be back that night, but unfortunately, she never returned.
The daughter visited her male friend the next day, and he initially claimed that he had last seen Monroe on the evening of October 4. However, he later gave inconsistent information to the police, stating that he had seen her three days earlier.
Houston Police Department officers have been actively searching the area and conducting thorough investigations along U.S. 59; however, no significant breakthroughs have been made thus far.
Monroe, a Black female, is approximately 5’5″ tall and weighs 120 pounds. She has black hair adorned with bows and was last seen wearing army-style clothing. It is important to note that Monroe has high blood pressure and a mental disability.
