Garth Brooks, the renowned country music star, is currently facing serious allegations of rape. A makeup artist has filed a lawsuit in California, accusing him of assaulting her in her hotel room. This disturbing incident adds to the growing list of sexual misconduct accusations that have recently shaken the entertainment industry.
In the court filing, Jane Roe, the woman involved, alleges that the singer engaged in unwanted sexual advances towards her during their collaboration in 2019. These advances included instances of him exposing himself and groping her.
The entertainment industry continues to face legal challenges as another lawsuit is filed against a prominent figure. This follows a series of allegations that have shaken the television and film world in recent years, leading to what is now commonly referred to as the #MeToo movement.
Just days after rapper and music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs was hit with federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges, over 100 individuals have filed a lawsuit against him, accusing him of sexual abuse.
“The complaint filed today highlights the presence of sexual predators not just in corporate America, Hollywood, and the rap and rock and roll industries, but also within the realm of country music,” stated the accuser’s attorneys, Douglas Wigdor, Jeanne Christensen, and Hayley Baker, in a statement shared with AFP.
We firmly believe that Brooks will face consequences for his actions.
A lawsuit has been filed in Los Angeles, asserting that Brooks had already filed a preemptive lawsuit in Mississippi back in September.
He filed a lawsuit under an alias, seeking an injunction to stop “extortionate conduct” and accusing the woman of trying to secure a multimillion dollar payout.
According to the lawsuit filed in California, Brooks’ attempt to silence our client through the preemptive complaint in Mississippi was an act of desperation and intimidation.
– ‘Worst fears’ –
In 1999, Jane Roe began working for Trisha Yearwood, Brooks’ wife, providing hair and makeup services, according to her lawsuit.
In 2017, she started working for Brooks, and her workload increased even more in 2019.
In a shocking turn of events, Brooks unexpectedly emerged from the bedroom doorway, completely devoid of any clothing. He confidently flexed his muscles while Ms. Roe, overcome with a sense of unease, realized that she was now isolated with Brooks in the room, far away from any assistance in Nashville, according to the lawsuit.
In a tragic turn of events, Ms. Roe’s worst fears were realized as she found herself face to face with a towering figure. Standing at an imposing 6 feet and weighing almost 300 pounds, he loomed over her petite frame of less than 5 feet and 100 pounds.
According to the lawsuit, Roe experienced such severe trauma from the attack that she contemplated taking her own life. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
In the 1990s, Brooks, 62, rose to national prominence with chart-topping hits like “Friends in Low Places” and “The Dance.”
In 2015, he surpassed Elvis Presley as the male artist with the highest number of albums sold.
