A nurse with a suspended license in Maryland has been charged with fraud and theft from an assisted-living facility

A few months after an investigation was launched by local, county, and state police, Stephanie Marie Murphy, a resident of Temple Hills, was arrested in connection with reported thefts at the Charlotte Hall Veterans home.

According to investigators, it has been discovered that Murphy misrepresented her identity when using an online platform specifically created to aid with staffing at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home.

Authorities later discovered that her license had been suspended in Maryland, Virginia, and DC.

In September, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Murphy, charging her with 25 counts of misrepresentation as a registered nurse and 27 counts of fraudulent representation while practicing registered nursing.

On Friday, October 4th, a spokesperson from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office revealed that she had voluntarily surrendered herself.

After her next court appearance, Murphy was released.

The authorities are currently investigating the incidents.
