Two Delaware watermen have sued the state’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control. This is due to the United States Wind Farm Group’s plans to build 22 offshore wind turbines 10 miles off the coast of Ocean City.
Paul Townsend and George Merrick are the plaintiffs in this action, and former Delaware Attorney General Jane Brady will represent them.
The litigation will be based on a technicality: U.S. Wind did not finish an application to bring transmission lines from Maryland to Delaware.
That application must be completed and authorized before permits can be issued. The waterman’s attorney, Jane Brady, believes that they bypassed certain stages to expedite the process.
“There are several requirements for getting a driver’s license. You must provide your birth certificate and other proof of residency in Delaware. Well, these earning approvals are an essential component, but they aren’t there, haven’t arrived, and are still pending.”
