A state of emergency has been declared in four Ohio counties

Gov. Mike DeWine declared a state of emergency for several counties in southern Ohio.

According to DeWine, Jackson, Lawrence, Pike, and Scioto counties have declared a state of emergency in response to severe weather beginning Sept. 27. DeWine reported that four counties saw downed trees, water, severe winds, and power outages.

“This declaration of a state of emergency will give the state the ability to expedite assistance to these communities,” he said. “We will continue to monitor needs, help communities in Southern Ohio recover from damage, and remove large amounts of debris from the recent storm event.”

The state of emergency lasts for 90 days or until terminated.
