Winner of Kansas Lottery jackpot takes home $2.6 million in cash

An unidentified winner has claimed more than $2.6 million after winning the big lottery prize in northeast Kansas.

27 News reached out to Cory Thone, a spokesman for the Kansas Lottery, regarding a recent $3.7 million Kansas Super Cash jackpot prize in late September. The winner won the jackpot with the numbers 8-14-27-28-29 and a “Super Cash Ball” of 22. The odds of winning this prize are 1 in 2,517,200.

The Kansas Lottery verifies that the winner promptly claimed the award. The winner, who wanted to remain anonymous, received the money in one lump sum totaling little more than $2.6 million after state and federal taxes.

Merigold Liquor in Shawnee sold the winning ticket. Because of the magnitude of the jackpot reward, this business is entitled to a $1,000 Kansas Lottery selling bonus.

We advise people to check their tickets to see if they won anything, as even those who do not win the jackpot reward may be eligible to claim smaller sums of money. Click here to learn more about lottery games in Kansas.
