Deputies locate a missing 9-year-old boy from Sibley, Missouri

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was searching for a missing 9-year-old boy from Sibley, Missouri, on Monday morning.

Liam Smith was found safe a few hours after requesting assistance in finding him, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said Smith was last seen around 6:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of North Buckner Tarsney Road and Santa Fe Street, less than a half-mile east of downtown Sibley.

He was described as a nine-year-old white youngster with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a gray tank top, black or grey shorts, and blue/white Converse shoes when he vanished.

Earlier, authorities discovered him wading in the Missouri River near Homer’s Landing, 32301 East Atherton Sibley Road.
