A state police cruiser was struck by gunfire after rounds were fired at troopers in Indiana County

Pennsylvania state troopers were shot while responding to an incident in Indiana County.

Pennsylvania State Police responded to a reported domestic incident between a father and his son in an apartment complex at 9:57 p.m. on Saturday in the 4800 block of Lucerne Road in White Township.

The son, Henry Divinskiy, 22, of New York, had a semi-automatic gun inside, the troopers learned.

Divinskiy’s father managed to escape the building when police arrived, but not before an upper bedroom window fired about 20 rounds into the parking lot.

A trooper who tackled the father to protect him was almost hit, but no one was hurt.

The shooting damaged a PSP cruiser.

The father and the trooper who tried to protect him sought refuge on the ground near the wrecked vehicle’s rear wheel.

The state police did not fire back.

As backup, the Pennsylvania State Police dispatched the Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) and additional troopers to the area.

SERT attempted to contact Divinskiy multiple times, but was unable to do so.

They used a drone to peer through the window and found him on the interior floor.

When crews made their way inside, they discovered him dead from a self-inflicted gunshot.

State Police were assisted by the Indiana County Emergency Management Agency/Indiana County 911, the Indiana County Coroner’s Office, the Indiana Fire Association, and the Homer City Volunteer Fire Department.
