Texas City police arrest suspect after a high-speed chase that spans over 25 miles from Houston

Harris County Constable’s Precinct Two deputies apprehended a suspect after a high-speed chase on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Deputies were enforcing traffic in the 10800 block of Gulf Freeway when they noticed a vehicle driving at a high pace. The officer began a traffic stop by turning on emergency lights and sirens, but the car refused to stop, leading deputies on a pursuit. During the pursuit, the car exceeded 100 mph and swerved for over 25 miles into Texas City.

The police stopped the driver and identified him as Ruben Arturo Munoz Torres, a white man. A press release from Harris County Constable Precinct Two stated that they detained Torres for felony evasion and lodged him into the Harris County Joint Processing Center without incident.
