Multiple fatalities have been reported following a tragic plane crash at Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport in Manteo, North Carolina. The National Park Service confirms that the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon when a single-engine plane attempted to land at the airport. Eyewitnesses state that the plane caught fire upon impact. Local fire departments, including the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department, swiftly responded and successfully extinguished the flames. As a result of the incident, the airport has been temporarily closed until further notice. The National Transportation Safety Board has initiated an investigation into the crash, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been alerted. In light of this unfortunate event, the Wright Brothers National Memorial will remain closed on Sunday.
