People from Georgia and Florida are being cautious and evacuating ahead of Hurricane Helene

Residents in Alabama, Florida, and Georgia are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Helene as it moves northward.

Evacuees are getting ready for any situation that may come their way.

Lucas Barber, an evacuee from Bristol, Florida, shared his experience, stating, “Like I mentioned earlier, we decided to stay during Hurricane Michael and unfortunately, we lost our house. It was an incredibly frightening time for us. That’s why this time, we didn’t want to take any chances.”

Barber shared that his family was not taking any chances with Helene, especially after losing their house to Hurricane Michael.

Barber reminisced about the challenging times he faced, stating, “It was quite tough, you know. I was still in high school back then, and I had to rely on the generosity of my friends and family, crashing on their couches until we could come up with a solution.”

According to Barber, they are planning to travel as far north as possible. When it comes to the decision of staying or leaving, he offered a single piece of advice.

Charlie Scott is making a long journey from Thomasville, Georgia to Prattville, Alabama in order to find refuge from the approaching storm.

He explained that instead of staying home and trying to escape the hurricane, he wanted to prioritize the safety of his family. He mentioned that this particular hurricane was expected to be highly destructive, so he decided to take action and ensure his loved ones’ well-being.

Stopping for gas, Scott found himself accompanied by his loyal dog riding shotgun and his daughter seated in the backseat. One decisive factor played a significant role in his decision to either stay or continue on his journey.

Scott emphasized that the safety and well-being of one’s child should always be the utmost priority. If there is any indication that the child might be at risk or placed in an unfavorable environment, it is crucial to take immediate action and remove them from that situation.

Scott emphasized the importance of not taking unnecessary risks by staying in the face of such a powerful hurricane.
