A woman in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, has been charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting her 13-year-old daughter, according to the police.
According to court documents, the officers inquired about what had happened while administering first aid to the girl. She informed them that she had been shot shortly after returning home from school.
According to charging documents, following the altercation, the girl proceeded to descend the stairs at her residence when she suddenly heard a gunshot. As a result, she tumbled down to the bottom of the staircase and found herself incapable of movement. The girl later disclosed to the authorities that her mother instructed her to fabricate a story claiming that an intruder had shot her.
According to police dispatch audio, the mother of the girl, Talecka Brown, initially claimed that her daughter was shot by a homeless person and that she was already injured when she returned home from school.
According to police, investigators detected the odor of a discharged firearm inside the residence, as stated in the charging documents. When questioned about the presence of a gun in the home, Brown admitted to the existence of an unregistered firearm in a safe, clarifying that it did not belong to her.

Police are currently conducting an investigation into the shooting incident involving a 13-year-old in Seat Pleasant.
After police questioned Brown, she was arrested and charged with first-degree attempted murder and other offenses. According to court records, Brown provided inconsistent statements during the police interview, eventually confessing that she was the sole person present at home when the shooting occurred.
The girl is currently in critical condition at the hospital, but her condition is stable.
The investigation has been taken over by Prince George’s County police, according to Seat Pleasant police.
