Former President Donald Trump returned to the battleground state of Georgia on Tuesday, speaking on the economy in Savannah.
Trump talked for more than an hour, discussing taxes, jobs, energy prices, and promising to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States.
“With the vision I’m outlining today, not only will we stop our business from leaving for foreign lands, but under my leadership we’re going to take other countries’ jobs,” Mr. Trump declared on Tuesday.
Recent pulls indicate that Trump is marginally ahead in Georgia. In 2020, President Joe Biden nearly beat Trump in the state.
More than 400 economists and former White House aides have signed a letter supporting Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
The economists, primarily from Democratic administrations, said in their letter that “the choice in this election is clear: between failed trickle-down economic policies that benefit the few and economic policies that provide opportunity for all.”
A source familiar with the situation told Scripps News that Harris plans to visit the US-Mexico border during her trip through Arizona on Friday, in addition to giving her own economic speech in Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Trump dubbed the planned trip a political spectacle.
“After almost four years, border czar Kamala Harris has decided for political reasons that it’s time for her to go to the border,” Mr. Trump said.
Harris has previously visited the southern border, but this will be her first trip since announcing her presidential candidacy in July. It comes as Harris continues to trail Trump in polls on immigration.
