In an effort to pay tribute to their son, a family in Toledo, Ohio is advocating for stricter punishments for individuals who habitually drive under the influence.
The Reinhart family came together on Sunday to pay tribute to Nicholas Reinhart, who tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident involving a suspected drunk driver.
Family and friends organized a bike run to bring attention to Nicholas’ story and the perils of driving under the influence.
Nicholas Reinhart, a 30-year-old, tragically lost his life while riding his bike near the intersection of Alexis and Telegraph Rd. The driver responsible for the incident has been identified as Kenneth Pegler, aged 55. It is worth noting that Pegler has a history of multiple previous charges related to OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) and reckless driving.
Reinhart’s family members are currently advocating for a change in laws regarding repeat OVI offenders. They are actively gathering signatures to urge Ohio lawmakers to enforce stricter penalties for individuals who commit multiple OVI offenses. Their goal is to ensure longer sentences for these offenders, while also prioritizing their recovery.
