Pensacola man detained following that concludes with collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol

A man from Pensacola, Florida is in trouble with the law after he reportedly engaged in a high-speed chase with a Florida Highway Patrol trooper, resulting in a collision on Sunday afternoon.

A black Jeep Wagoneer was spotted by a trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) while conducting traffic enforcement in Escambia County. The vehicle was observed operating recklessly on County Road 727 near Stanford Road.

According to the spokesperson, the trooper turned on his emergency equipment in an effort to halt the vehicle. However, the driver quickly increased their speed and tried to escape.

The trooper started after the car, which continued for a short distance until the black Jeep Wagoneer collided with a tree in the lawn of a residence on the 300 block of Cherokee Trail in Pensacola.

Dante Jamon Walker, 24, was taken into custody without incident and did not suffer any injuries in the crash.

Investigators also found that Walker was in possession of drugs and a handgun.

The charges against Walker include aggravated flight and evading, possession of a controlled substance, possession of more than 20 grams of marijuana, and driving without a license.

He remains in the Escambia County Jail with a bond of $31,000.
