Central Ohio Home Health Care Owner Convicted Of Medicaid Fraud

A woman, aged 47, who owned and ran three home health care companies in central Ohio, has been found guilty of Medicaid fraud in federal court.

In June 2023, Sally Njume-Tatsing, a former resident of Pickerington, was indicted on 13 charges by the U.S. court of the southern district of Ohio. Recently, she was found guilty on one count of health care fraud and 12 counts of making false health statements.

Health care fraud can result in a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, whereas making false health statements can lead to a five-year imprisonment.

Njume-Tatsing owned Labelle Home Health, which had three locations in Ohio – Reynoldsburg, Mt. Vernon, and Parma. Although she primarily resided in California during the business’s operation, she played a central role in Medicaid billing for nursing services, despite not being involved in the day-to-day operations.

She allegedly exaggerated the hours of service provided to individuals, overcharged for registered nurses, and submitted fraudulent claims for deceased or ineligible patients in order to receive Medicaid payments.
