19-year NYC Sanitation Veteran Killed While Working In Queens

A garbage truck knocked over a sanitation worker in New York City on Saturday evening, according to officials and sources.

Horrifying images from the scene show Richard Errico, a 19-year department veteran, dead outside the DSNY garage for Districts 11 and 13 in Douglaston.

Sources told The Post Errico fell out of a truck and was then run over.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and DSNY Commissioner Jessica Tisch, who were seen walking around the area together Saturday night, verified Errico’s death.

“Our thoughts tonight are with Richard’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone who knew and loved him,” Mayor Adams said in a statement, adding that he had spoken with his family.

“Richard kept our streets and communities safe and clean for more than 19 years, and we should all be keeping Richard and his family in our prayers,” a spokesperson said.

Tisch stated that Errico helped the residents of Douglaston, Littleneck, and Bayside while he was one of New York’s strongest.

“He did it with pride.” “I ask that all New Yorkers pray for his family,” she stated.
