Puka Nacua, Rams wide receiver, leaves overtime loss due to knee injury

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua suffered a knee injury in the first half of their 26-20 overtime loss against the Detroit Lions. As a result, Nacua was ruled out for the rest of the game, according to ESPN,

Unfortunately, the game will have to go on without Steve Avila, the starting left guard who has been ruled out due to a knee injury.

According to Rams head coach Sean McVay, there is currently no update on the condition of Nacua, Avila, or left tackle Joe Noteboom, who all sustained injuries during the game.

After the game, both Noteboom and right guard Kevin Dotson were spotted wearing left ankle boots. Dotson, who played the entire game, relied on crutches as he made his way out of the locker room.

During the second quarter, Nacua made a catch but unfortunately, he limped off the field and sought medical attention in the blue medical tent. Although he was initially listed as questionable to return due to a knee injury, he showed determination and returned to the game for a short period before being forced to leave again.

Nacua suffered a knee injury during training camp and had to miss several weeks. However, he made a comeback on August 26 and was listed as a full participant in the week before Sunday’s game. It is unclear whether the knee injury he sustained during the game was the same one from training camp, as stated by McVay after the game.

Matthew Stafford, the quarterback for the Rams, expressed uncertainty about Nacua’s potential absence from the team. However, he emphasized the strong bond and confidence they have developed through their shared playing experience and Nacua’s track record of accomplishments.

Stafford expressed uncertainty about the nature of the situation but acknowledged the significant role the player in question plays in their offense. However, he commended the efforts of Tyler Johnson and his fellow teammates, emphasizing their impressive performance in the game.

Johnson, who was on the Rams’ practice squad last season, had a solid performance on Sunday, recording five catches for 79 yards.

In a remarkable display of talent, Nacua made history last season as he shattered records for the most receptions (105) and receiving yards (1,486) ever achieved by a rookie in the NFL.

Nacua recorded four catches for 35 yards on Sunday before sustaining the injury.
