WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor announced today that it has awarded $90 million in grants to organizations across 44 states and Puerto Rico. These grants aim to provide training, career services, and work-based learning opportunities to help migrant and seasonal farmworkers, along with their dependents, develop skills for careers in both agriculture and other sectors.

Administered by the department’s Employment and Training Administration, the National Farmworker Jobs Program (NFJP) will provide Career Services and Training grants to 51 organizations. These grants focus on worker-centered, sector-based training, fostering industry partnerships to create positive outcomes for both workers and employers. Among the total, eight grants—worth over $15.8 million—have been awarded to organizations that did not receive NFJP grants in the previous competition.

The NFJP empowers organizations to offer high-quality career services and training to migrant and seasonal farmworkers and their dependents, helping them obtain industry-recognized credentials in agriculture and other industries.

This grant follows the department’s March 5, 2024, announcement of available funding. Authorized by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, NFJP grants enable the delivery of workforce solutions tailored to the needs of workers and employers across various industries.
