DMV Region Could Experience Severe Thunderstorms with Ping Pong-Sized Hail and 70 MPH Wind Gusts

Forecasters are cautioning that parts of the DMV region should prepare for wicked weather as a Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued.

After a scorching day, the National Weather Service has issued a warning for possible storms in certain areas of DC, Maryland, and Virginia. These storms could potentially bring strong winds of up to 70 mph and hail the size of ping pong balls to some regions.

A region-wide Watch has been issued until 11 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29.

On Thursday, parts of the region will also be under Flood Watches.

According to Accuweather forecasters, temperatures are expected to decrease over the Labor Day Weekend following the storms that occurred on Thursday. Rain and possible thunderstorms are also anticipated, lasting until Monday when sunny skies are predicted.
