Governor Youngkin issues Executive Order 35
“Non-citizens should not be allowed to vote in us or state or local elections, I believe firmly in that, and that’s why we’re doing the work that we’re doing, to make sure that they’re not,” said Youngkin.
“Virginia is the crucible of democracy, and I first encourage all eligible Virginians to register and vote, but I also want to make sure that all Virginians have confidence that our elections are safe and secure, and that’s what the Executive Order 35 is all about codifying the actions that we have been taking to make our voter rolls the cleanest in the country and to make sure that our votes are accurately counted,” he added.
According to Youngkin, Virginia will maintain the use of paper ballots for the upcoming November election. Instead of relying on voting machines, ballot-counting machines will be employed to ensure the accuracy of the results. Furthermore, individuals will need to submit applications to receive a mail ballot, as opposed to the mass mailing of ballots.
According to Youngkin, the counting machines will undergo testing prior to the election. Moreover, he assures that these machines will not have any internet connection. Additionally, Youngkin emphasizes that the ballot drop boxes will be closely monitored round the clock.
