A Montgomery homeowner is speaking out after his house was struck by multiple bullets, an incident becoming all too familiar in the Capitol City. The family is grateful to be alive after at least 12 bullets hit the front of their home while they were asleep. “We’ve lived here for 29 years without any trouble,” said the homeowner.
According to waka, Everything changed just after midnight on Monday, August 5, when the homeowner, who prefers to remain anonymous, said he and his family were jolted awake by the sound of gunfire hitting their home. “We heard shots, but we didn’t know what it was. When we got to the door, there was glass all over the porch, debris everywhere. That’s when we realized someone had shot into our house,” the homeowner shared.
The homeowner pointed out several spots where at least eight bullets ripped through the brick exterior of his house, with four shots piercing the windows. Thankfully, all his family members were at the back of the house at the time, so no one was hurt. “I’ve got elderly folks in my home, a handicapped child, and school kids,” the homeowner said.
His neighbor’s home also sustained damage from the gunfire. In response, the homeowner has installed security cameras and says he and his neighbors are working on forming a neighborhood watch. “I’d really like to see more police presence on the streets because elderly folks need protection. People are out here shooting at homes, and that’s just not right,” the homeowner added.
We contacted the Montgomery Police Department for more details on the shooting and will provide updates as we learn more. The homeowner emphasized that in his 29 years of living there, nothing like this had ever happened before.
