Chillicothe Man Arrested For Trying To Escape Officers Following Being Neighborhood Nuisance

A Chillicothe man named Ralph Mangus had a tumultuous encounter with the law on August 20, 2024. He faced numerous charges and was eventually arrested by the local police in a dramatic fashion.

Chillicothe Officers received a call regarding Ralph Mangus, who had an active arrest warrant, at the 1000 Block Diehl Street. When they arrived at the residence, they spotted Mangus sitting on his porch. They immediately informed him about his arrest, but instead of surrendering, Mangus attempted to avoid capture by climbing through a window.

Despite his attempts to flee, the officers successfully apprehended him after a short altercation. To gain control over Mangus, the officers resorted to using a taser, which was deployed twice before he finally complied and allowed himself to be handcuffed. Subsequently, Mangus was transported to the Ross County Jail.

The incident started when a neighbor, who had parked on the curb, reported that Mangus had placed a light bulb and a glove in her van and asked her to deliver them to someone named Richard. She also mentioned that Mangus had previously damaged a neighboring house by tearing off security cameras.

Mangus, who already had an active warrant for theft and resisting arrest, now finds himself facing additional charges of criminal mischief. As a result, he has been prohibited from accessing the properties on Diehl Street.

Concerned for her safety, Mangus’s mother revealed that he had not been taking his medication, which only worsened tensions in the neighborhood.

Ralph Mangus is currently being held at the Ross County Jail. He has a scheduled appearance in Chillicothe Municipal Court on August 21, 2024, at 9:00 AM for a hearing regarding his charges.
