Sean David Moody and Mikki Dee Moody were detained in Elizabethton, Tennessee. Fox reported that accusations of child abuse led to the arrest of the Tennessee couple. Investigators learned that the pair had imprisoned a 7-year-old autistic youngster in a storage trunk. Authorities legally charged them with serious child abuse, neglect, and endangerment. Additionally, investigators had presented the couple with a search warrant for an unrelated case.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation first arrested Sean “on a warrant charging him with abuse of a vulnerable adult.” Detectives executed the search warrant and found unclean living conditions at the home.
Preston White, an investigator with the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, would provide further insight. “The search of the residence revealed unsanitary living conditions,” White stated in a statement. “Multiple electrical wall outlets contained exposed wiring, and animal and human feces were discovered on the floor coverings.”
“Information gathered during the initial investigation led to the discovery of a brown-colored storage trunk in the living room. White concluded that the trunk included urine-soaked blankets, a pillow, half-eaten pizza, and garments with a blood-like substance.

According to Law & Crime, investigators made a distressing discovery that revealed the child had been confined in the trunk along with food. Afterward, they promptly contacted the Department of Children’s Services, resulting in the child’s removal from the situation. It was revealed that Sean’s troubles with the TBI centered around the mistreatment of his sister, who had an undisclosed developmental disability. In early August, investigators received an anonymous tip that led to the investigation.
After thoroughly investigating the matter, agents concluded that the victim was subjected to abuse by her brother, Sean Moody, who was also responsible for her care.
Mikki Moody has been released from custody after posting a $75,000 bond. As of now, Sean is still in jail.
