A Man Died In A Crash Of A Van And Truck On I-70 Near Indiana.-ohio Border

A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday morning as a fatal crash took the life of a man from Maryland on I-70, located east of the Indiana-Ohio state line. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has reported this unfortunate incident.

Michael Aaby, a resident of Marriottsville, Maryland, tragically passed away after being airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.

Katherine Aaby, a passenger in the silver 2017 Dodge Ram 3500 van driven by Aaby, was transported to Reid Hospital in Richmond to receive medical attention for her injuries. Rachel Ross, the driver of the other vehicle involved, was also taken to Reid Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

A sheriff’s patrolman arrived at the scene of a road obstruction around 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday on eastbound I-70 near the interchange for U.S. 40 and U.S. 35.

According to a news release issued by the sheriff’s office on Tuesday afternoon, a patrolman noticed a van traveling westbound on I-70 veering into the median and colliding with the cable barrier while en route, just east of the 149 (mile marker) interchange.

Investigators believe that Ross had to slow down or come to a stop in the westbound passing lane of the road due to traffic caused by construction. It was during this time that Michael Aaby approached in his van and was unable to stop in time to avoid colliding with Ross’s brown 2012 Ford F250 pickup. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to be pushed into the median.

The medical helicopter temporarily closed I-70.

Located approximately 80 minutes east of Indianapolis, Richmond offers a captivating destination for travelers seeking a unique experience.

Marriottsville, a charming community located just a short 45-minute drive northwest of Baltimore, exudes a unique charm and tranquility.
