A man from South Carolina has been arrested and charged after reportedly threatening a Black woman with a hatchet and using racial slurs against her, according to authorities.
Horry County police records, acquired by Atlanta Black Star, reveal that Kyle Lawson Lowder, a 23-year-old individual, was apprehended by authorities following their response to a 911 call regarding a disturbance at a residence in Myrtle Beach on August 1st.
Upon the arrival of a single officer, several individuals approached him regarding an incident involving a “skinny white kid.” According to their accounts, the individual in question had allegedly threatened a neighbor and brandished a hatchet during the altercation.
According to a police report, the officer encountered Lowder and immediately recognized him from a previous domestic violence incident with his girlfriend. Lowder, who appeared intoxicated, exhibited aggressive behavior and refused to follow the officer’s instructions.
Lowder also confessed that he was in a distressed state and had engaged in destructive behavior, such as throwing bottles and striking a car with a hatchet.
According to the police report, the video footage captured him walking towards her property while holding the hatchet above his head. The report mentioned that his actions were indicative of someone preparing to make a slashing motion with an axe or hatchet.
According to the police, Lowder ceased his forward movement towards the victim’s property and returned to his own residence. It was reported that he forcefully hurled the hatchet at his front door.
During the investigation, authorities discovered a hatchet on Lowder’s kitchen counter, with noticeable blood stains on the handle. According to the police report, the blood was a result of Lowder injuring his hand, presumably due to his violent behavior.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
Lowder faced charges of aggravated assault/battery of a high nature, as stated in the arrest report. He was taken into custody and subsequently released after posting a $40,000 bond.
