New York Man Arrested For Car Crash, Assault, Attempted Hijacking And More Charges

A man from New York was arrested and faces several charges, including attempted robbery, assault, and resisting arrest.

Jamestown Police officers responded to a motor vehicle accident at approximately 8:52 a.m. on August 8th. The accident occurred on West Third Street, near West Fourth Street. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers discovered a group of individuals gathered in a nearby parking lot.

Blake A. Perry, a 20-year-old Jamestown resident, made a bold move when he attempted to assault an officer and evade the police. However, his escape was short-lived as he was swiftly tased and apprehended.

Upon investigation, the police found that Perry was driving at an excessive speed and collided with another vehicle, resulting in injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.

Perry stepped out of the car and attacked a bystander before trying and failing to take control of another vehicle.

After the hijacking attempt failed, Perry attempted to escape in a van with a passenger still inside. This resulted in a physical altercation, during which Perry struck the other person in the face. Meanwhile, as the police arrived at the scene, Perry tried to flee in the van.

Perry faced a range of charges, including second-degree attempted robbery, third-degree attempted grand larceny, two counts of assault in the third degree, resisting arrest, failure to keep right, speed not reasonable or prudent, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.

After being arraigned in Jamestown City Court, he was released in accordance with the bail reform laws of New York State.
