NYPD: Bronx man apprehended, charged with first-degree rape

Earlier this month, a woman was allegedly assaulted near Bergen Avenue and East 149th Street in the Bronx by a 38-year-old man who has been charged with first-degree rape. According to the initial report by the NYPD, the victim was walking at around 1 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5 when the incident occurred.

The suspect, now known as Papa Diop, approached her and asked for directions. She was then “forcibly raped.” The NYPD reported that the suspect escaped on foot. NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln received the victim in stable condition.
