Please note that individuals receiving Supplemental Security Income or those who began receiving Social Security retirement benefits prior to May 1997—over 27 years ago—will not qualify for this payment.

To qualify for the maximum retirement benefit payment on August 14, 2024, there are four key requirements:

1. Age of Filing: You must have filed for Social Security benefits at age 70, but not before reaching this age. This allows you to accumulate delayed retirement credits, which can increase your benefit by up to 24% in most cases.
2. Work History: You need to have worked for 35 years in jobs covered by the SSA and have earned the contribution and benefit base during those years. High earners who do not pay taxes to the SSA are not eligible for the maximum payment.

Eligibility Based on Birth Date
