A Indiana Man Has Been Charged With Murder After Shaking His Girlfriend’s Toddler

An Indiana man is facing murder and aggravated violence charges after reportedly shaking his girlfriend’s 21-month-old daughter, causing her death.

Jesse Sartin initially claimed that the child’s injuries were the result of an accidental fall, but later admitted to shaking her when she grew agitated after a bath.

The infant developed brain enlargement and serious hemorrhages before passing away on August 1st. An autopsy determined that her death was a homicide.

“We took the tiny girl to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where she underwent emergency brain surgery to alleviate swelling and pressure inside her skull.” The little girl died on Thursday, August 1st,” stated Prosecutor Lynn Deddens.

On August 2nd, Sartin faced charges and made his initial court appearance on August 5th. Prosecutors presented a portion of a letter Sartin wrote to the child’s mother, in which he admitted shaking the infant to calm her down.
