Dallas Police Chief Fires Two Officers For Their Off-duty Conduct

On Monday, the Dallas Police Department revealed that two officers had been discharged by Police Chief Eddie Garcia as a result of their off-duty misconduct.

After being discovered asleep at the wheel of a running car in Wylie, Sr. Cpl. Joshua Cooper was dismissed. Following the incident, Cooper was charged with public intoxication.

After committing multiple violations, the department terminated the employment of the second officer, Shawn Couch. The violations included receiving off-duty pay for work that was not performed, breaching the Expanded Neighborhood Patrol Policy, violating the off-duty employment policy, and providing false information to administrative investigators.

The dismissals of both officers can be appealed by them.
