Body Discovered in Prentiss Identified as JDCHS Student

Haynes expressed deep sorrow and devastation over the loss of one of their scholars, stating that the child was always happy-go-lucky whenever he encountered him.

According to Haynes, Stewart was a standout student-athlete in both football and track for the Jaguars. He never got into any trouble and excelled in multiple sports.

He expressed, “As a community, we have lost a brilliant individual. However, let us unite and transform this tragedy into a commemoration of his life. His legacy should inspire his fellow students to strive for excellence and achieve greatness. May they make him proud of their accomplishments in life.”

Upon receiving the heartbreaking news, all schools in Jefferson Davis County decided to release their students early today.

Haynes expressed his condolences on behalf of the Jefferson Davis County Board of Trustees and the entire school district, offering heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved mother, sisters, and brothers.

Both of Stewart’s siblings are enrolled in the JDC School District as well.

He expressed, “We constantly express our love to our children and encourage them to share with us if they are going through any pain.”

He urged the community to unite and speak up if they witness or know of anyone experiencing distress. “Let’s come together and support one another. If you notice something, don’t hesitate to speak up,” he emphasized.

According to Haynes, the district will persist with its grief counseling initiatives for the foreseeable future.

Haynes stated that although he is no longer with us, he will always be remembered.

According to JDC Sheriff Ron Strickland, further details regarding this incident cannot be provided as it is currently under investigation.
