Kentucky parents apprehended for allegedly giving THC gummies to 1-year-old

A one-year-old child reportedly consumed marijuana gummies, leading to the arrest of both parents who are now detained at the Daviess County Detention Center. The incident occurred in Henderson, Kentucky.

On August 1st, an accidental poisoning was reported to the Owensboro Police Department. AMR and Owensboro Fire officials were dispatched to the scene alongside officers.

According to the OPD, Jesika Riggs and Patro Stevenson, the parents of a 1-year-old child, called for an ambulance after their child ingested an unknown substance and began moving very slowly.

The little one was finally transported to Norton’s Children’s Hospital.

Authorities have reported that they carried out a search warrant at the home of the family and discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia during the inspection. Additionally, they found an empty container of THC gummies, and it was determined that the child may have consumed edible marijuana gummies. Patrol officers were responsible for the seizure of the items at the residence.

Authorities apprehended Riggs and Stevenson on multiple charges, including wanton endangerment, possession of controlled substances, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Riggs was also charged with possessing a controlled substance that was not in its original container.
