Five Missouri Men Arrested in Illinois Police Operation Targeting Child Trafficking

Over a period of two days, the Illinois State Police conducted a sting operation in the Columbia region of Illinois that led to the apprehension of five individuals from Missouri. These men have been charged with trafficking children, and the operation was successfully completed.

The Illinois State Police have recently carried out a human trafficking enforcement operation near Columbia, Illinois on July 31 and August 1, as per the recently released press release. All those who were arrested during the two-day operation were from St. Louis, Missouri.

    • Deepak Chiluveru (24) of St. Louis, MO – Indecent Solicitation a Child (Class 3 Felony),Traveling to meet a child (Class 3 Felony), Grooming (Class 4 Felony), and Solicitation to Meet a Child (Class 4 Felony)
    • Tuan M. Huynh (34) of St. Louis, MO – Indecent Solicitation a Child (Class 3 Felony), Traveling to meet a child (Class 3 Felony), Grooming (Class 4 Felony), Solicitation to Meet a Child (Class 4 Felony), and Armed Violence (Class X Felony)
    • Leslie M. Johnson (56) of St. Louis, MO – Indecent Solicitation a Child (Class 3 Felony), Traveling to meet a child (Class 3 Felony), Grooming (Class 4 Felony), and Solicitation to Meet a Child (Class 4 Felony)
    • Kawa M. Shaker (26) of St. Louis, MO – Indecent Solicitation a Child (Class 3 Felony), Traveling to meet a child (Class 3 Felony), Grooming (Class 4 Felony), and Solicitation to Meet a Child (Class 4 Felony)
    • Roberto Rodriquez-Cordero (36) of St. Louis, MO – Indecent Solicitation a Child (Class 3 Felony), Traveling to Meet a Child (Class 3 Felony), Grooming (Class 4 Felony), Solicitation to meet a child (Class 4 Felony), Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class 4 Felony), and Armed Violence (Class X Felony)

Several law enforcement agencies worked together to apprehend the suspects, including ISP special agents, Troop 8 Troopers, SWAT officers, and the Intelligence Support Unit. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia Police Department, Centralia Police Department, Metropolitan Enforcement Group Southern Illinois, and the Monroe County State’s Attorney’s Office also collaborated in this operation.
