The US Army has announced the deaths of two Georgia Army National Guard soldiers

On Friday, the United States Army announced the deaths of two Georgia Army National Guard soldiers.

The United States Central Command deployed the two to support distinct tasks within its area of responsibility.

The United States Army reported that 23-year-old Specialist Travis Jordan Pameni of Douglasville died on July 31 in Baghdad as a result of a non-combat-related event.

The 1st Battalion, 121st Infantry Regiment in Lawrenceville received Pameni.

According to the US Army, Twin City’s 23-year-old Specialist Owen James Elliot died on July 31 in Baghdad as a result of a non-combat-related event.

Elliott served in Savannah with the 1st Battalion, 118th Field Artillery Regiment.

The US Army stated that these instances are unrelated and under investigation.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Specialist Pameni and Specialist Elliot,” said Maj. Gen. Dwayne Wilson, The Adjutant General of the Georgia National Guard. “Both of these Soldiers selflessly served our state and nation. We extend our prayers and deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of both Soldiers.”
