After three decades of dedicated service, Kimberly Spears-McNatt, the police chief of Ohio State University, has announced her retirement later this month.
In 2018, Spears-McNatt made history by becoming the department’s first female chief.
After completing her studies at Ohio State, she became a member of the university’s police department in 1994.
Clemson University in South Carolina has hired her to be their new associate vice president of public safety, and she has accepted the position.
In her statement, Spears-McNatt expressed that she sees this as a one-of-a-kind chance to step down from her current position and simultaneously embark on a new venture that is in line with her professional aspirations.
Expressing both nostalgia and enthusiasm, Spears-McNatt said, “I’ll certainly miss Ohio State and my fellow Buckeyes, but I’m also thrilled to embrace this new challenge.”
Before Spears-McNatt’s departure on August 26th, an interim police chief will be appointed.
