Democrats See A Decrease In Registrations In Kentucky As Republicans And Independents Surge

According to FOX 56, Secretary of State Michael Adams has reported a significant increase in the number of Kentuckians registering to vote, as the upcoming election draws closer.

According to Adams, a total of 14,502 individuals registered for voting in the month of July.

In a recent news release, Adams expressed satisfaction with the high number of Kentuckians who are registering to vote, citing their trust in the fairness of the electoral process.

A total of 5,675 individuals were eliminated from the voter roll due to factors such as death, duplicate registrations, and felony convictions. However, the number of registered voters increased by 8,827 after the cleanup process.

According to Adam, the recent surge could be attributed to the ongoing presidential election. However, he also pointed out that the decrease in new Democratic registrations may indicate a lack of enthusiasm towards the new presidential candidate.

Out of all the registered voters in Kentucky, 46% of them are Republicans. Recently, 6,221 voters have registered as Republicans, making it the largest party in Kentucky with a total of 1,628,029 voters. This accounts for a .38% increase in Republican registrants.

The Independent voters and those under other political affiliations make up the smallest portion of Kentucky voters, with only 370,513 registered individuals, constituting 11% of the electorate. Despite this, there has been a 1.03% increase in the number of voters registered as “other,” which has resulted in an additional 3,784 voters being added to the list.

In Kentucky, the number of Democratic registrants has been decreasing, but they still make up a significant proportion of registered voters. Currently, Democrats account for 43% of the electorate, with a total of 1,506,394 voters. According to Adams, there was a slight decline of 0.04% in Democratic registration, which translates to a decrease of 579 voters in July.
