A 2.9 magnitude earthquake has been registered in Lake Michigan

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has officially reported a 2.9-magnitude earthquake that occurred on Friday in Lake Michigan. The epicenter of the quake was approximately 24 miles southeast of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

The earthquake struck at approximately 14:18 UTC, which translates to 9:18 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Its depth was reported to be 10.9 km.

Over 35 individuals residing in Wisconsin have reported feeling the earthquake, out of which 27 belong to the Sturgeon Bay area. Additionally, one resident from Michigan reported feeling it in Gaylord. According to the US Geological Survey, the intensity of the earthquake was weak to light, which usually does not lead to any damage.
