Governor Jim Pillen declared an emergency after storms brought hurricane-force gusts to central and eastern Nebraska counties on Wednesday.
Six Nebraska counties reported major damage to buildings, trees, and electricity lines, resulting in widespread power outages.
Cass, Douglas, Lancaster, Sarpy, Saunders, and Washington counties are under an emergency declaration.
The proclamation authorizes the use of the Governor’s Emergency Funds to assist in recovery operations.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds declared a disaster in Cass, Mills, Plymouth, Pottawattamie, Wapello, Webster, and Woodbury counties.
State funds will also be used to assist those communities with the cleanup.
