Bob Brinson appointed by Governor Cooper to North Carolina Senate, representing three counties

A new State Senator has been elected in three counties located in Eastern Carolina.

Yesterday, Bob Brinson took an oath to serve as the representative of District 2 in the Senate, encompassing Craven, Lenoir, and Beaufort counties.

Governor Cooper has appointed Brinson to serve the remainder of Jim Perry’s term as a state senator. However, Brinson will have to run for the seat in November.

When we inquired about how he was feeling following his trip to Raleigh to get sworn in, he shared his thoughts with us.

Senator Bob Brinson from District 2 expresses his excitement about recent events, although he admits that things have happened so quickly that they haven’t fully sunk in yet. He had the opportunity to meet new people and visit an office, but is now back in New Bern and readjusting to his routine.

The New Bern Board of Aldermen has called for a special meeting on Friday, August 2, to determine the successor who will serve the rest of Brinson’s term on the board. Brinson, who was appointed to the Senate seat, had to resign from the Board of Aldermen to take up the new position. The board is now looking for a suitable replacement to fill the vacant position.
