US DOJ: New Mexico woman jailed after man beaten to death

In 2021, a man lost his life and a woman from Gallup, New Mexico, has been sentenced for the crime.

According to court records, Shannon Etsitty, along with two other individuals, was under the influence of meth and alcohol in September 2021 when they came up with a scheme to lure and cause harm to the victim, John Doe.

As the vehicle picked up John Doe and two other individuals, things took an unexpected turn. Unfortunately, John Doe was subjected to an assault during the ride and as a result, the vehicle went off the road and became stuck.

Outside the vehicle, records state that they battered and stabbed the victim with a screwdriver and a baseball bat. The neighboring bushes concealed his body. Law enforcement arrived and assisted in retrieving the automobile, while one individual hid with the body in the bushes.

According to reports, Etsitty, a relative’s spouse, and one of the assailants returned and relocated the body to a field near Mentmore, New Mexico.

A stab wound to the chest and significant head damage were among the various injuries found on Doe’s body days later. His death was ruled a homicide. Etsitty was connected to the crime.

Elias Viola, one of the perpetrators, received a 30-year prison sentence.

Etsitty received a 14-year jail sentence and a $19,498.71 reparation requirement.
