California’s L.A. region experiences a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that a 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California on Monday afternoon.

There have been no significant reports of damages.

Officials reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located near Barstow, causing it to be felt in the Los Angeles region.

Local media reports indicate that the earthquake was felt in several areas including Calabasas, the metro area of Los Angeles, Glendale, and other nearby locations. In fact, reports suggest that the earthquake was even felt as far away as Las Vegas.

According to an expert who spoke with KABC-TV News, the earthquake is situated on the Calico fault that runs through the Mojave.

Southern California experienced an offshore earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 on New Year’s Day earlier this year.
