Texas Governor Greg Abbott Dispatches Firefighters And Resources To Assist Fight California Wildfire

Texas Governor Abbott has ordered the Texas Division of Emergency, Texas A&M Forest Service, and Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System to dispatch a team of over 100 firefighters and emergency personnel, along with 25 fire engines, command vehicles, and other necessary equipment.

Abbott was requested by the California Office of Emergency Services to provide assistance. The Emergency Management Assistance Compact, which enables states to offer aid to other states during a catastrophe, is handling the deployment coordination.

“Texans understand the urgency of responding to wildfires, and our country is stronger when we come together in times of crisis,” said Abbott in a news release. “I am grateful for all the firefighters and emergency management personnel as they answer the call to protect their fellow Americans. Cecilia and I pray for the brave first responders who are battling these destructive wildfires in California.”

As of Saturday, the Park Fire has destroyed an enormous 547 square miles and has been deemed one of the biggest wildfires in California’s history. The authorities have reported that the fire started on Wednesday when a man pushed a burning car into a gully in Chico. Currently, around 2,500 firefighters are working hard to put out the blaze, with the assistance of helicopters and air tankers.

Several wildfires are currently devastating North America, including a group of fires in the Plumas National Forest near the California-Nevada border. One of these fires is causing widespread destruction.
