Several Big Lots stores in the Carolinas to shut down

Big Lots Inc., a big-box retailer, expects to close dozens of shops this year, including some in the Carolinas.

Columbus, Ohio-based Big Lots stated in its quarterly report filed in June that it planned to close 35 to 40 shops in 2024 while opening only three. The company did not provide a list of store closures at the time, but it has now updated its website to show which sites will close.

According to Big Lot’s website, one of those stores is located in the greater Charlotte area. That location is in Chester, at 1841 J. A. Cochran Bypass in the Chester Crossing shopping center. Two additional South Carolina sites, as well as one North Carolina store, are on the list.
