According to The Center Square, Kari Lake, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Arizona, has been vocal about her plans to close the southern border and her proposed solutions to address border-related issues. However, her opponent in the GOP primary race, Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, believes that he is better equipped to tackle crime at the border.
Lamb confidently stated that his experience with the border is unparalleled amongst all the candidates. According to him, his qualifications exceed even those of the other contenders for the Senate seat.
According to him, border security is not merely a topic for his election campaign, but it is an integral part of his life.
Lamb stated that they go out into the deserts every day to locate individuals attempting to illegally enter the country. He added that they rescue people who have been abandoned by cartels and left for dead in the desert.
Lamb attributed the rise in fentanyl-related fatalities in the United States to the illegal immigration occurring through the southern border.
According to Lamb’s campaign website, fentanyl has become the primary cause of death for adults in America and is being smuggled in by the cartels across the southern border. The criminal cartels are specifically targeting children, who are being poisoned by fentanyl and are at risk of being recruited by these groups.
According to Lamb, his team has seized a variety of drugs, including fentanyl, during their visits to the border.
Lake pointed out that Lamb’s claims of being familiar with crime on the border were questionable since he doesn’t reside in the area. Therefore, it seemed unlikely that he had substantial experience with border-related issues.
Lake’s campaign website states that her primary focus on border security is completing the wall at the southern border that was initiated by former President Donald Trump and discontinued by President Joe Biden.
According to Lake, her efforts would also involve eliminating the endemic crime provision that serves as a basis for granting asylum, as she believes that this provision only contributes to the rise of criminal activities in the United States.
Lake’s website highlights that numerous of the largest Democrat-controlled cities in the U.S. have violent crime rates equivalent to, and in some instances surpassing, those of the countries that people are fleeing from to come to America. As per the website, this is the fundamental reason being mentioned by asylum seekers, and eliminating it from the list would lead to the disqualification of a significant number of applicants.
Furthermore, she expressed her desire to mandate prompt deportation and a lifelong prohibition from entering the United States for individuals who are caught trying to enter the country through unofficial ports of entry.
According to Lake, it is crucial to only provide foreign aid to countries that actively support the U.S. in preventing illegal migration. On the other hand, he suggests that countries that are willing to combat organized crime within their own territories should receive assistance.
According to Lamb, the key to achieving a balance between enforcing the law and being a hospitable country lies in strengthening border control and organization.
Lamb expressed his thoughts on illegal immigration, stating that it is unjust to those who followed the legal process and waited their turn. He believes that the United States needs to implement a merit-based immigration system that adheres to the rule of law. He also emphasized that it is possible to be a country that upholds its laws while also being a gracious and welcoming nation, rejecting the notion that it is a choice between the two.
Republicans who are registered have the option to choose which candidate they prefer to address border security and other concerns.
