Kansas firefighters travel to the western region to battle raging wildfires

Kansas firefighters are on their way to Oregon and Idaho to assist in combatting the ongoing wildfires.

A group of 10 skilled firefighters from various regions of Kansas, including Wichita, Olathe, Ottawa, and Edwardsville, are en route to aid the Oregon Department of Forestry with 34 significant fires. These fires are primarily located in the central and eastern regions of the state, and the Kansas Forest Service announced the deployment on Thursday.

The Durkee Fire in Eastern Oregon is in for a tough fight as the Hutchinson Fire Department sends its skilled crew to battle it for the next two weeks. Heading the team is their captain, Troy Mueller, who will be lending his expertise in fighting the Gwen fire in Idaho.

The Pacific Northwest region has witnessed a massive wildfire outbreak, with almost 1,562 square miles being consumed by the flames this summer, as reported by the Associated Press.
