Eyewitness News has obtained a distressing video showing a home health aide assaulting a 95-year-old woman in Harlem over the weekend.
On July 21, the woman who uses a walker and requires an oxygen tank was assigned a home health aide to take care of her. It was during this time that the incident occurred.
Michelle Mitchell, the victim’s granddaughter, described the experience as a nightmare and one of the worst days of her life, stating that it was horrific.
As the ordeal unfolded, Mitchell found herself in New Jersey, but she was able to witness everything through her phone. This was made possible by the security cameras that had been installed in her grandmother’s apartment by the family.
Mitchell expressed disbelief at the act of someone punching another person as if they were violently attacking them. “I couldn’t believe that someone could beat someone else down with their fists,” he stated.
According to medical professionals, the victim is experiencing soreness and bruises as a result of the attack, and is currently unable to lift her arms. Additionally, there is concern about the potential development of blood clots.
Medflyt at Home Health Care Agency had dispatched the worker to the home.
According to a statement provided to Eyewitness News, the company is working alongside the New York City Police Department and conducting an internal investigation. They are fully cooperating with the authorities to resolve the matter.
Authorities are currently searching for the health aide worker, and as of now, no arrests have been made.
