Alabama Man Is Charged With Attempting To Rape An Elderly Woman

Authorities in Mississippi arrested an Alabama man Thursday morning after they said he broke into an elderly woman’s home and attempted to rape her before a neighbor heard her calls for help and intervened.

The December 2023 Mobile County Grand Jury charged Elvis Dewayne Henderson with Attempted Rape, Burglary 2nd, Robbery 3rd, and Elder Abuse 2nd in an indictment.

The victim’s distress caught the attention of a nearby neighbor who quickly rushed to her aid and intervened by removing Henderson from the property.

Keith Blackwood, Mobile County District Attorney, has stated that there is zero tolerance for violence against the most vulnerable members of society. He has made it clear that Mr. Henderson will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

The court set Henderson’s bond at $30,000 for the Attempted Rape 1st charge, $20,000 for the Burglary 2nd charge, $10,000 for the Robbery 3rd charge, and $20,000 for the Elder Abuse charge.

The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, Mobile Police Department, and the U.S. Marshals are working together with the DA Task Force to expedite the arrests of defendants who have been secretly indicted. This collaboration ensures that these defendants are prosecuted in court much quicker than before.
