Newly Revealed Disturbing Information Regarding the Arrest of Palisades Park Police Officer

New information has emerged regarding the apprehension of David Chun, a 42-year-old law enforcement officer with the Palisades Park police department. The details are unsettling.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, 42-year-old Chun from South Hackensack was taken into custody on Monday, July 22. He was charged with several offenses related to assaulting a woman in Hasbrouck Heights from 2019 to 2023.

On July 22, Chun faced an arrest and was charged with numerous offenses, including five counts of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of third-degree aggravated assault, one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault, seven counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree terroristic threats, one count of third-degree terroristic threats, and one count of criminal mischief, a disorderly persons offense.

Chun also warned the victim, “I’m going to throw this f—ing kid at you,” while violently running down the stairs during an argument, according to police reports.

According to the complaint, Chun reportedly bashed the victim’s head against the ground in April 2023. The same day, he tossed a table down a flight of stairs, landing near a child, according to the complaint.

On Monday, July 22, authorities arrested Chun and charged him with five counts of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of third-degree aggravated assault, one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault, seven counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, one count of third-degree terroristic threats, and one count of criminal mischief, a disorderly persons offense.

The Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack remanded Chun to Bergen County Jail for his initial appearance.
